December Online Book Club: The Hotel by Pamela Kelley
I’d heard of Pamela Kelley’s several mystery series set on Nantucket and have always wanted to try one of her books. The Hotel did not disappoint!

At its core, this book is about a brother and sister who cannot overcome their past wounds. I totally recommend you choose the audiobook version of The Dutch House.
Imagine an Agatha Christie-Sherlock Holmes style mystery set in 1880’s San Francisco instead of England. Throw in daring undercover sleuthing and a dash of romance. What you’d get is Maids of Misfortune.
Yes, I know it’s after Labor Day. Summer is officially over. Don’t let anyone tell you when to read a seasonal book. We read to escape and entertain, right? Sarah Conley Hawkins’ story about returning home after a long absence was a good summer mystery/ beach romance.
After thirteen years away, Emily Hartford finally came home. Estranged from her father, grieving her mother’s death, and heartbroken, in high school she escaped her hometown to live with an aunt in Chicago and continued with her life, never looking back.
Jo Wyatt is a highly skilled police detective in small town Colorado. Any female who has worked in a male-dominated profession will recognize the fine line she walks between obeying her bosses and standing up for what she believes. She navigates the office politics much better than I would under the circumstances!
If you mixed Kinsey Millhone and Stephanie Plum with the latest in stakeout technology you’d end up with Delanie Fitzgerald.
As if killer tornadoes weren’t scary enough! Alex Kava, known for twisty psychological thrillers, unleashes a series of storms in Desperate Creed, further complicating a murder investigation by series characters Ryder Creed and Maggie O’Dell.
I’m not gonna lie. The hardest part about writing this month’s book review is avoiding spoilers. The easiest part is recommending the latest bestselling novel by award winning author, Hank Phillippi Ryan.
I’m new to this author and series, but love anything set in Hawai’i. A Damsel for Santa did not disappoint.
